Abby Finer began her television career in 1993, when she landed a job in ABC’s comedy, reality and variety series departments. Nine years later, Abby became an executive producer of a television pilot entitled “Kenny vs. Spenny,” that resulted in producing thirty-nine episodes for networks in the US and Canada.
Beginning in 2003, Abby co-ran the prestigious Warner Bros. Television Writers Workshop, a program that nurtures aspiring comedic and dramatic writers. She also co-wrote a book entitled “The Warner Bros. Writers Workshop Guide to Writing a Great TV Spec Script,” that was published by Syracuse University Press in 2004.
Abby later relocated to New York City and joined NextNext Entertainment in 2005 to head their television development department, where she worked with scripted and unscripted material for broadcast and cable networks. Today, she works with a number of companies, producing and creating programs and content.
Without a doubt, Abby has been exceedingly successful, and her experiences create quite an expertise. While she has experienced professional praise, she says her biggest accomplishment was being a kidney donor for her best friend in early 2005 and appearing on the Oprah Winfrey Show to talk about the surgery.
Abby Finer is available to speak to journalism and communications students and organizations about television and related media topics. Abby is also available to speak to audiences about kidney and organ donation.
